CBSE 12th Scan Copy Portal Crisis: Students Report Massive Fee Glitch and Missing Answer Sheets

The recent controversy surrounding the Class 12 scanned copy portal of the Central Board of Secondary Education has sparked widespread concern among students and parents. The issue began shortly after the portal was activated on 19 May 2026 for accessing scanned copies of answer sheets, a facility meant to ensure transparency and help students review their evaluated exam papers.
Within just a few days of launch, users started reporting serious technical problems. By 21 May evening, the portal had reportedly gone down, and many students were unable to access their requested scanned answer sheets. Although the board later issued a statement assuring that “all is well,” the problems persisted, and disruptions continued into the fourth day, 22 May.
The most alarming claim circulating on social media is that the portal has been “hacked” or compromised. Several students alleged that instead of the standard fee of ₹100 per subject, the system was demanding unusually high payments ranging from ₹8,000 to as much as ₹69,420 per scanned copy. These figures quickly went viral, leading to confusion, panic, and speculation about a possible technical breach or system error.
However, there has been no official confirmation from CBSE regarding any hacking incident. The board had originally fixed the fee at ₹100 per subject for obtaining scanned copies of answer sheets, and the sudden spike in payment demands is being widely attributed by users to a possible technical glitch or backend malfunction in the payment gateway rather than an intentional change in policy.
Alongside payment-related issues, many students have also complained that even after completing the application process successfully, they have not received their scanned answer sheets for the past three days. This delay has added to the frustration, especially for those awaiting copies for re-evaluation or further academic planning.
Frustrated students and parents have taken to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), tagging CBSE and demanding immediate resolution. Many are also urging the board to extend deadlines for accessing scanned copies, citing the ongoing technical disruptions and lack of access.
The situation has raised serious concerns about the reliability of the digital examination support systems being used during critical academic processes. While CBSE has acknowledged the portal issues indirectly through updates, students continue to await a clear explanation and full restoration of services.
As of now, the situation remains unresolved, with users hoping for a swift fix, transparent communication from the board, and restoration of normal access to scanned answer sheets without further disruption.
