The Delhi High Court has directed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Central Board of Film Certification to examine concerns raised about the film *Dhurandhar 2*. The court was hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Deepak Kumar, a Head Constable of the Sashastra Seema Bal, who claimed that certain scenes in the movie could pose risks to national security.
The case was heard by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay and Justice Tejas Karia. During the hearing, the bench observed that although the movie is fictional, the concerns raised by the petitioner were “debatable” and deserved proper consideration. The court emphasized that films are not merely a source of entertainment and can have a wider social impact, especially when they depict sensitive military operations or defense-related content in great detail.
According to the petition, *Dhurandhar 2* allegedly showcases operational methods, military tactics, and sensitive defense locations connected to the Indian Army and security agencies. The petitioner argued that such portrayals could expose confidential information and potentially threaten the integrity and security of the nation. He also stated that he had already submitted a detailed representation to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the CBFC on March 23, 2026, objecting to multiple scenes in the film. A separate petition on the same issue has also reportedly been filed before the Supreme Court of India.
While disposing of the PIL, the High Court directed the concerned authorities to treat the petition as a formal representation and take corrective action if necessary. The court further instructed that the final decision be communicated to the petitioner.
Meanwhile, despite the controversy, actor Ranveer Singh’s *Dhurandhar* franchise has continued to dominate the box office. The first film reportedly earned over ₹1,307 crore worldwide after its release in December 2025. Its sequel, released on March 18, 2026, has also emerged as a massive commercial success, reportedly collecting nearly ₹1,799 crore globally and continuing its strong theatrical run even after two months in cinemas.
