Modi-Trump Meeting Expected During Upcoming G7 Summit in France
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump are expected to meet during the upcoming G7 Summit in France next month. The summit will take place from June 15 to June 17 in Evian-les-Bains, France, and could mark the first meeting between the two leaders in more than 16 months. French President Emmanuel Macron has invited Prime Minister Modi to participate in the G7 Summit. President Trump is also expected to attend the gathering along with leaders from the world’s major economies. The possible meeting between Modi and Trump has attracted global attention, especially because of the importance of India-US relations in current international affairs. According to reports, Prime Minister Modi’s visit to France has been officially confirmed. The French Embassy in India stated that French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot held discussions with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar during the G7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting at Abbaye des Vaux-de-Cernay. During these talks, both sides welcomed Modi’s participation in the Evian Summit and highlighted India’s growing contribution to the G7’s global discussions. The ministers emphasized India’s important role in addressing major macroeconomic challenges, strengthening international partnerships, and promoting global solidarity. The discussions also focused heavily on the current situation in the Middle East. Both France and India agreed to maintain close coordination on regional security issues, particularly regarding the safety and stability of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global trade and energy route. The possible Modi-Trump meeting is being viewed as an important diplomatic development. India and the United States have continued to strengthen cooperation in areas such as trade, defense, technology, and global security. A face-to-face meeting between the two leaders at the G7 Summit could help further improve bilateral relations and provide an opportunity to discuss key international challenges. The G7 Summit in France is expected to bring together several world leaders to discuss global economic stability, geopolitical tensions, climate issues, and international cooperation. India’s invitation to the summit also reflects the country’s increasing influence in global policymaking and international diplomacy.
