Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has once again stirred political debate with his sharp remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led central government. Speaking during a major strategic meeting of the Congress Scheduled Caste Department in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi claimed that the Modi government could fall within a year and alleged that the Prime Minister has now been “fully exposed” before the public.
According to sources present at the meeting, Rahul Gandhi criticized the government over issues such as inflation, unemployment, and India’s trade relations with the United States. He argued that the BJP government has failed to address the concerns of common citizens and claimed that public dissatisfaction is increasing across the country. Gandhi further stated that Prime Minister Modi’s image has weakened due to economic challenges and rising pressure from multiple fronts.
This is not the first time Rahul Gandhi has made such a prediction. Earlier too, he had suggested that Narendra Modi may not remain in power for long, statements that triggered strong reactions from the BJP. In response, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia had strongly criticized Rahul Gandhi, calling his remarks politically motivated. Bhatia said the Modi government is stable and powerful, comparing it to “Angad’s feet,” which cannot be moved. He also claimed that even “100 Rahul Gandhis” would not be able to shake the current government.
The Congress meeting in Delhi focused mainly on strengthening the party’s connection with the Dalit community and increasing Scheduled Caste representation within the organization and government structures. During the discussion, Rahul Gandhi reportedly admitted that the Congress party failed to give enough political importance to Dalits during the 1980s and 1990s. According to him, this gap allowed regional political parties to grow stronger in several states.
The meeting was organized under the leadership of Rajendra Pal Gautam and included around 380 district presidents and representatives from 15 southern states. Leaders discussed plans to expand Congress’s grassroots presence among Dalit communities and address issues related to social justice and caste-based discrimination.
Rajendra Pal Gautam later said the meeting included detailed discussions on politically and socially empowering Dalits, spreading Congress ideology to grassroots workers, and raising voices against atrocities faced by Dalit communities across India. The party leadership believes that increasing Dalit participation in politics and organization will strengthen Congress ahead of future elections.
