Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has expressed happiness over the conferment of the Padma Shri upon Dr Ramchandra Godbole and Smt Sunita Godbole for their decades-long selfless medical and humanitarian service in the remote tribal regions of Bastar. The Chief Minister described the honour as a matter of pride and inspiration for the entire state of Chhattisgarh.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the honour conferred upon the Godbole couple by President Smt. Droupadi Murmu represents national recognition for the values of “service, dedication and compassion” in public life.
The Chief Minister said that the Godbole couple dedicated their entire lives to serving tribal communities through their association with the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram. Living and working in remote and difficult forest regions such as Barsur in Bastar, they brought free medical treatment, health awareness and hope to people who had long remained deprived of healthcare services.
He said their contribution towards “malnutrition-free communities”, primary healthcare accessibility and health awareness among rural and tribal populations has been highly exemplary and inspirational.

Congratulating Dr Ramchandra Godbole and Smt. Sunita Godbole on this prestigious achievement, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said their spirit of service would further strengthen the values of compassion, social responsibility and “nation-building through humanity” in society.
